Globally, it
is predicted that 4 billion people will be online and 7.6 billion active cell
phones will be in use by 2020. This exponential growth has also resonated in
Pakistan with almost 120 million mobile subscribers currently. In the digital
world, the skills required today will not disappear completely but will
fundamentally change in the next 10 years.
With
artificial intelligence and robotics infiltrating across many organizations, it
will impact transactional roles and increase the need for more analytical and
research skills. Pakistani organizations must commit to transforming their HR
skills by clearly understanding the external and internal challenges. Digital
leadership brings with it different needs including mindfulness, visionary
mindset attuned to a digital and the local world, ability to drive high
performance of collaborative and increasingly cross-functional teams and a
quick entrepreneurial ability to ensure continuous innovation is a process
embedded in the value cycle of the organization.
