Global trends indicate big
data and data analytics is the future of any business. That should be the
guideline for Pakistani organizations as well. While structured and purposeful
templates must be maintained for relevant data collection, it is imperative
that we add greater value to our respective organizations by increased time
allocation to data analysis. This implies a shift of people skills from just
data gathering resources to strong analytical ability that would allow better
strategic decision making based on credible information. Based on a Mercer
study, the shift from data collection to data analysis implies two changes; the
measurement through data is positioned more as a process rather than a project
and the time allocated ratio for data analysis to data gathered transits to
80:20.
