Can’t say no is as hard as it sounds. Instead of struggling with the “Can’t Say No” syndrome, learn to “disagree gracefully”. Yes it takes courage to say no, even to the juniors. Consider:
- Staying on the facts
- Keeping a log/record of past events
- Associating the possible outcome with the current behavior/task
- Gauging the line manager’s mood and current circumstances
- Using sentences to make your life easier:
"Point taken sir, let me come back to you in a while."
"You are right, the way I see it…."
"I really respect your opinion and…."
"I am sure you must have thought well about this aspect..."
